SOF IMO Olympiad Registration - Dates, Fees and How to Apply?
FAQs on International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) Registration 2026-27: Last Date, Fee and Complete Application Process
1. When will IMO registration 2026-27 start?
SOF has opened its 2026-27 school registration system. Students who want to appear for the IMO should contact their school, as registrations are processed through participating schools rather than directly by individual students.
2. What is the IMO registration last date 2026?
The official SOF School Registration Form for 2026-27 states that applications must reach SOF by 31 August 2026. Schools may set an earlier internal deadline for students, so students should confirm the final date with their school coordinator.
3. Can I register individually for SOF IMO 2026-27?
No. SOF IMO individual registration is not accepted directly by SOF. Students must register through their respective schools.
4. Is there an online registration option for individual IMO students?
SOF's main registration portal is intended for schools. A student may use a registration access code if one is provided by the school, but this is still part of the school-managed registration process, not independent individual registration.
5. How do I register for the IMO Olympiad?
Contact your school's Olympiad coordinator, provide the required details and complete the applicable payment. The school submits the student registration information to SOF and SOF generates the student's roll number.
6. What is the SOF IMO registration fee for 2026-27?
The SOF IMO registration fee is ₹170 per student per Olympiad for India, Bhutan and Nepal. Schools may charge an additional amount of up to ₹30 per student for permitted administrative and teacher-support expenses.
7. Can I register for IMO if my school is not registered with SOF?
Your school can contact SOF and register itself as an examination centre or request registration material. SOF states that there is no institutional fee for a school to become a registered IMO Level 1 examination centre.
8. Which classes can register for SOF IMO?
Students from Classes 1 to 12 can register for SOF IMO Level 1 through their school.
9. Is there any minimum percentage required for IMO registration?
No minimum academic percentage is required for students to participate in IMO Level 1. Students from Classes 1 to 12 can register according to their current class and SOF's participation rules.
10. Do students have to register separately for IMO Level 2?
Level 2 is for students who qualify through their Level 1 performance. Students should follow the subsequent instructions communicated by SOF and their school after qualification rather than treating Level 2 as a fresh open-entry examination.
11. Can I change my IMO exam date after registration?
The school selects one of the three SOF IMO dates, and SOF does not permit a change of date once selected. Different question-paper sets are used for the different exam dates.
12. How will I get my IMO roll number after registration?
SOF generates student roll numbers using the information submitted by the school in the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS). Students should obtain their examination details through their school.
13. Is the IMO registration fee refundable?
The official SOF registration information describes the examination fee and exemptions but does not provide a general refund policy for ordinary completed registrations. Students should confirm cancellation or payment-related questions with their school and SOF before making payment.
14. Is there a fee exemption for the IMO Olympiad?
Yes. SOF exempts students with a major physical disability and Indian students whose parent was martyred during defence operations from the registration fee.
15. Where should students check their final IMO registration status?
Students should check with their school Olympiad coordinator, since the school submits registrations and receives the student details and roll numbers from SOF.
