-The Vindhya range is surrounded by the Central Highlands on the south. On the other hand, it is surrounded by the Aravalli range in the northwest.
-The flow of the rivers is draining this region. These are the Chambal, the Sind, the Betwa and Ken from the southwest to northeast. Hence, it indicates the slope.
-The Central Highlands are considered as the wider in the west side but narrower in the east side. The eastward extensions of this plateau are much popular at the local level. These are Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand.
-The Chotanagpur plateau marks the further eastward extension, drained by the Damodar River.

Note: The Central Indian Highlands are having two parallel chains of the hills. These are the Vindhyas and the Satpuras. These are running from East-North-East to West-South-West direction and further separated by the Narmada river valley. The Vindhyas are within the north of Narmada and extend from Jobat in Gujarat to Sasaram in Bihar through the Malwa Plateau and Baghelkhand of Kaimur ranges.
