Hint: We will first put in the values of x to be equal to 0, and find the value of y. Then, we will put the value of x to be 1 and find the value of y. Going on like this, we have ordered pairs.
Complete step by step solution:
We are given that we are required to find the ordered pair of y = 8x.
Now, if we put in the value of x to be equal to 0, then we have the following equation with us:-
$ \Rightarrow $y = 8 (0)
Simplifying the right hand side of the above equation, we will then obtain the following equation with us:-
$ \Rightarrow $y = 0
Thus, the first ordered pair is (0, 0).
Similarly now, we can find more ordered pairs as well.
Now, if we put in the value of x to be equal to 1, then we have the following equation with us:-
$ \Rightarrow $y = 8 (1)
Simplifying the right hand side of the above equation, we will then obtain the following equation with us:-
$ \Rightarrow $y = 8
Thus, the second ordered pair is (1, 8).
Hence, the required ordered pairs are (0, 0) and (1, 8).
Note:-
The students must notice that the ordered pairs are written like we write the co - ordinates of a point in 2 – D, where the first component represents the value of x and the second co – ordinate represents the value of y.
Here, we can find many more such ordered pairs just by putting in one of the values amongst x or y to be any random number and then according to that value, we have the value of the other co – ordinate as well.
If we put in x to be 1/2, then we would have got the value to be 4 and the ordered pair would have been (1/2, 4).
