Hint: Refraction is the phenomena of bending a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different. The refraction of a light ray when it passes from one medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.
Complete step by step answer:
The speed of light is different in several mediums like light travels faster in the air as compared to water. The change of speed of light isn't visible but we can see that a light ray bends when it goes from one medium to a different medium.
Since the speed of light is different in different media, it bends from its path when moving from one medium to a different one this is referred to as refraction.
Finally, what happens is that, after bending, the light ray enters the eye of the person, the human eye isn't able to detect the bending of the ray and as a result, a reflection is made because of which the thing in another medium or behind another medium appears displaced from its original place.
Note:
• If the light ray bends then the image is created away from the position where the particular object is because of the angle the light deviates after refraction.
• Refraction of waves involves a change in the direction of waves as they pass from one medium to a different
• Reflection is the bouncing back of light when it strikes the smooth surface. Refraction is the bending of light when it travels from one medium to another.
