Hint The two factors that decide the density of the compound or substance are the mass of the substance and the volume of the substance. The volume of the substance can be related to the temperature.
Complete step by step answer:
The density is one of the major factors which can tell the property of the element. The two factors that decide the density of the compound or substance are the mass of the substance and the volume of the substance. We can calculate the density of the substance by diving the mass of the substance by the volume of the substance. The symbol that represents the density of the substance is $ \rho $ and it is pronounced as rho. The formula of density is given below:
$ \rho =\dfrac{m}{V} $
So, from the relation, we can see that the temperature is not involved in the formula. Therefore, the temperature affects the volume of the substance. As the temperature increases the molecules of the substance will start to vibrate and occupy more space, due to which the volume of the substance increases.
Now, we can see that when we take the mass constant, then the density of the substance is inversely proportional to the volume of the substance and as the temperature increases the volume of the substance increases. So, as the volume increases the density will decrease. Therefore, the density is inversely proportional to the temperature of the substance.
Note: For example, at $ {{10}^{\circ }} $ , the density of 1 L of the water is taken 0.999 g/ml and at around $ {{70}^{\circ }} $ , the density of the 1L of the water will decrease to 0.9777 g/ml.
